Australia’s Business Champion for Timor-Leste is working to help facilitate greater commercial links between our two countries, Australia and Timor-Leste.Mr Sakib Awan, the founder of East Timor Trading, has now completed two successful missions to Dili as part of his new role.

During his inaugural visit in April, Mr Awan met with President José Ramos-Horta, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão, CCI-TL President Jorge Serrano, and other Government and business leaders to discuss ways that Australia and Timor-Leste can strengthen their economic relationship and two-way trade and investment.

Last week, Mr Awan continued these conversations with key interlocutors in Dili, including Ambassador Caitlin Wilson.

As Australian Business Champion for Timor-Leste, Mr Awan is working with Nicholas Moore AO and Australia’s other nine Business Champions to identify actions and initiatives that can open and enhance opportunities for business-to-business connections in the region and take forward the recommendations of Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.
