The passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis

With deep sorrow, the staff and management of East Timor Trading Group join the world in mourning the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

In his lifetime, Pope Francis embodied compassion, humility, and a tireless commitment to peace, justice, and care for the marginalized. His legacy of mercy and bridge-building across divides touched people of all faiths and backgrounds. We were fortunate to be blessed by Pope Francis during his recent visit to Timor-Leste from September 9-11, 2024.

Today, as a community, we gathered in moments of prayer and reflection to honour his life and mourn this profound loss together. His passing is felt deeply in our hearts, yet we remain inspired by the example he set — one of servant leadership, boundless empathy, and unwavering faith.

May he rest in eternal peace.
