Supporting the Presidential Office’s initiative: The economic empowerment of women in business

On the 28 of January 2025, East Timor Trading Group, under the leadership of Founder and Chairman Mr. Sakib Awan, Founder and Director Mrs. Neelofer Awan, CEO Mrs. Milena Pires, and Legal and Corporate Affairs Director Mr. George Silva, is proud to announce a donation of 10 push carts and USD 10,000 in support of the Presidential Office’s initiative for the economic empowerment of women in business.

President Dr. José Ramos-Horta graced the event, delivering a heartfelt speech and expressing his gratitude to Mr. Sakib Awan, Mrs. Neelofer Awan, and Mrs. Milena Pires for their generosity.

A beneficiary representative shared her appreciation, highlighting the push carts’ positive impact on empowering women to start or expand their businesses and better support their families.

Dr. Ramos-Horta emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving meaningful change and creating opportunities for women’s empowerment in Timor-Leste. This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards greater empowerment and opportunity.
