East Timor Trading Group fortifies its long-term commitment to Timor-Leste as a nation through a wide range of corporate social responsibility activities.

As a corporate sponsor for fundraising events, East Timor Trading Group makes contributions to social, cultural and sports initiatives on a regular basis. In 2016, East Timor Trading Group co-financed the construction of a new pre-school in Metinaro, Pre-Escolar Avo Ana Irena Olimpia De Almeida, with the office of H.E. Ms Kirsty Sword Gusmão as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Education. It is the company’s goal to have such a pre-school in each district of Timor-Leste.

Discovery Inn is a founding member of HOTL (Hotel Owners of Timor-Lorosae) Association, of which East Timor Trading Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sam Aluwihare is Chairman. HOTL is working to help develop the country’s tourism industry by supporting vocational training, data collection and marketing activities.

Further, East Timor Trading Group regularly participates in, and helps to raise awareness for environmental activities such as beach clean-ups, and is working towards minimizing waste across its business. In 2019, East Timor Trading Group was the first private enterprise in Dili to install solar panels at its headquarters, in an effort to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, and to empower Timorese nationals with new skills and opportunities.
